CAWEE 2024-2025 Charity of Choice is Northstar Startups.
Northstar Startups is a fully volunteer run charity that is focused on supporting the many people living in Scarborough, Ontario who face food and financial insecurity. We help them achieve their goals of greater financial stability through side hustles, self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Working with community service organizations to reach our clients, talented volunteers who build the operational backbone for our programs, and a network of experienced entrepreneur mentors providing encouragement and coaching, we deliver free programming to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Those accepted into the Northstar Startups Business Incubator receive weekly mentoring, monthly workshops, financial grants for authorized expenses and a community of support. Before being accepted into the program each person takes our Business Basics course either online or in person to develop their preliminary one-page business plan.
