CAWEE PRIVACY POLICY

We recognize the importance of protecting the personal information of purchasers and other individuals. This privacy policy describes the type of personal information we collect, how we use that information, the safeguards we have in place, and the right to access personal information.

By entering information onto our website, you are thereby consenting to the processing of your information for our association’s purposes.

Why CAWEE May Collect Personal Information

CAWEE collects information provided in writing (including via electronic media) or verbally about Members and Guests who attend CAWEE events, and does so to fulfill the objectives and mandate of the Association, which involve:

  • Communicating with and determining the needs of its membership;
  • Providing products, services and information to its Members;
  • Managing our relationship with Members;
  • Providing contact information of members and guests attending CAWEE events to encourage networking between members and guests.  Only members of CAWEE receive such lists;
  • Meeting any legal or regulatory requirements; and

Such other purposes consistent with the foregoing purposes.

How CAWEE Uses Personal Information

CAWEE only collects, uses and discloses Personal Information for purposes that would be considered reasonable in the circumstances and only such information as is required for the purposes of providing products, services or information to our Members. We use only fair and lawful methods to collect Personal Information.

Our use of Personal Information is limited to the purposes described in this Policy.

When CAWEE May Disclose Your Personal Information

As a general rule, all information concerning a Member is held in strict confidence and with exception in limited circumstances, is not revealed to anyone unless expressly or implicitly authorized by the Member.

Where CAWEE discloses Personal Information to organizations that perform services on its behalf, we will require those service providers to use such information solely for the purposes of providing services to the person concerned or CAWEE and to have appropriate safeguards for the protection of that Personal Information.

Please note that there are circumstances where the use and/or disclosure of Personal Information may be justified or permitted or where CAWEE is obliged to disclose information without consent. Such circumstances may include:

  • Where required by law or by order or requirement of a court, administrative agency or other governmental tribunal;
  • Where CAWEE believes, upon reasonable grounds, that it is necessary to protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of an identifiable person or group;
  • Where it is necessary to establish or collect fees;
  • Where it is necessary to permit CAWEE to pursue available remedies or limit any damages that CAWEE may sustain; or
  • Where the information is public.

Where obliged or permitted to disclose information without consent, CAWEE will not disclose more information than is required.

Consent

Unless permitted by law, no Personal Information is collected, without first obtaining the consent of the individual concerned to the collection, use and dissemination of that information. However, we may seek consent to use and disclose Personal Information after it has been collected in those cases where CAWEE wishes to use the information for a purpose not identified in this Policy or not previously identified or for which the individual concerned has not previously consented.

If a Member consents, her/their  personal information shall be used for the purposes indicated in this policy statement. If a member does not consent, then her/their  personal information shall be used by CAWEE for purposes of communicating with the Member only and shall not be provided to anyone else (e.g. Preferred Suppliers). In the event a Member does not indicate her/their consent, the submission of the information constitutes the consent of an applicant to the use of her/their  personal information for these purposes.

If a Member wishes to withdraw her/their  consent to have her/their  CAWEE membership information disclosed to affiliated organizations, preferred suppliers and other reputable organizations, the Member should contact CAWEE.

Right to Access Personal Information

If you become aware of any changes in your personal information, please contact us to update and/or correct any inaccuracies. You have the right to access your personal information, however these rights are not absolute. If we refuse to provide you access to your personal information, we will endeavour to provide you with reasons for the refusal.

No Warranty As To Accuracy

Information may, as a result of the passage of time, change to law, human error and or system failure become no longer accurate. CAWEE does not warrant the quality, accuracy or completeness of any information on our website. Such information is provided “as is” without warranty or condition of any kind. This website may include inaccuracies or typographical errors. Any link found anywhere in and/or on this website could be inaccurate, misdirected or lead the user to another website other than this website and CAWEE will not be liable for any use of these links in any manner whatsoever and this entire disclaimer applies to those links.

Third-party websites that can be accessed from this site (via hyperlinks) are entirely independent of this site. External websites are visited at your discretion.  CAWEE is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, security and privacy of external websites as they are entirely independent of this site.

No endorsement of any third party products or services is expressed or implied by any information, material or content referred to or included on, or linked from or to this website. CAWEE takes no responsibility for any member referral made over our website.

Amendments

CAWEE retains the right to amend the above conditions at any time, including the right to revoke any permissions.

CAWEE will from time to time review and revise its privacy practices and these Terms and Conditions/Policy. In the event of any amendment, a notice will be posted on www.cawee.net and published in appropriate CAWEE publications. Policy changes will apply to the information collected from the date of posting to CAWEE’s web site as well as to existing information held by CAWEE.
