Volunteering in Your Community

Volunteering in Your Community
By Laura Pacheco, CGA CPA MBA
We define volunteering as any activity that involves spending time, unpaid, doing something that aims to benefit the environment or someone (individuals or groups) other than, or in addition to, close relatives.
Volunteering has many benefits:
  1. Connects you with others
  2. Builds self-confidence and self-esteem
  3. Important for physical health...
  4. ...and mental health
  5. Sense of purpose
  6. Helps you forget your own problems
  7. Important for your career
Laura hosted a member round-table event on December 16th which enabled those in attendance to reflect on what they have done, what they are currently involved in, and how they can become more/better involved in volunteering in future.
